b20: Twenty Beautiful Years of Bottom Physics

The Symposium Twenty Beautiful Years of Bottom Physics was held June 29-July 2, 1997 at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago to commemorate the Twentieth Anniversary of the discovery of the b quark, as well as the 75th birthday of IIT's Nobel laureate Leon Lederman. Prof. Lederman led and Prof. Kaplan participated in the group that discovered the b quark at Fermilab in 1977. Since then, b physics has grown into a major enterprise in High Energy Physics. There is hope for a fundamental breakthrough in our understanding from experiments now under construction which will begin data-taking over the next several years. This was thus an opportune time to survey the history, current status, and future prospects of b physics. The b20 Symposium brought together physicists who played key roles at the time of the discovery and younger researchers who have lately come to prominence in this area. Here are links to a list of talks and speakers, the Symposium program, and the table of contents of the Proceedings (available from AIP Press).
